The Living Camp serves, supports, and connects the Asian American Catholic community by providing avenues for discernment, fostering discipleship, and building fellowship.

Our roots are in an annual “living camp” conference in Canada that gathered Chinese Catholics for fellowship and spiritual growth. This concept of a living camp was brought down to California in 1998, and provided a comfortable environment for Chinese Catholic young adult immigrants to enrich their faith in their preferred language. This was important especially as Chinese Catholics were (and still are) a minority population within the US; the living camp introduced individuals to a larger community that shared both their faith and culture. Over time, the demographics of this community have evolved to mainly 2nd generation Asian Americans who share similar cultural backgrounds (whether Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, Indonesian, Singaporean, mixed heritages, etc).

In 2021, we incorporated “The Living Camp” as a nonprofit organization to be financially independent from any parish, enable more continuity outside the rotating leadership, and expand beyond the annual camp to other activities. CACCLC continues to be our main annual event planned by an Executive Committee, while The Living Camp has ministries and events throughout the rest of the year to continue the fellowship that begins at camp and provide more opportunities for deepening faith with other Asian Catholics.
